For it is a call. Having practice nursing

For me,
nursing is more than a profession; it is a call. Having practice nursing in
various settings, has opened my eyes to the fact that not anybody can be a
nurse successfully; it has also open my eyes to the fact that disparities exist
in healthcare. The recognition that nursing is a call comes with a
responsibility – to assist people manage their illnesses with the confidence
that they can do it. I have seen firsthand the disparities in healthcare among
diverse environments regardless of their economic status. I strongly believe
that the need for primary care is imperative. Health care is not a privilege,
but a right; every individual should have access to the basic resources to lead
a healthy life. My belief that becoming a nurse practitioner will allow me to
be a bridge for patients between bedside nursing and the physician. I not only
belief that I can be their advocate and support as a nurse, but also give them
access to holistic care as a primary care provider who understands the global
picture of their needs.

I would like to promote a holistic approach to
healthcare that focuses on prevention and education. The holistic approach is
comprehensive and treats the whole person and promotes optimal lifelong health (Zamanzadeh,
Jasemi, Valizadeh, Keogh, & Taleghani, 2015). Specifically I would like to
bring this holistic approach to working within the scope of family health. I am
strongly committed to making a positive difference in family’s health. I seek
to further my career by focusing on primary care and prevention as a nurse
practitioner, thereby improving the overall health of people in communities.

 Among the
things I need in other to become the most effective clinician I can be is to
have the professional opportunity to diagnose, prescribe, and manage the
overall care of a patient. It also means having a strong skill set that will
remain relevant and adaptable in the ever-changing healthcare market. Becoming a nurse practitioner through GCU program would be a wonderful
experience that would allow me to reach my goals. As I have heard from
graduates of GCU that GCU’s program is challenging and intense; I look forward to becoming to be a
member of lifelong and a rewarding career that has meaning and value to me. To me working in the healthcare field is a privilege and an honor and
it requires hard work, compassion, and follow through. I am an adult with
practical life experience behind me. I am capable, confident, highly motivated
and my life skills have given me the training necessary to succeed in almost
any situation and learning successfully at GCU would not be an exemption
